Extension Dive

An explosive lateral push used to reach mid-height and wide shots that lie beyond simple collapse-dive range. This is an advanced athletic maneuver requiring high lower-body power and precise mid-air body control.

  1. The Power Step: Step diagonally toward the ball trajectory with the near foot, loading body weight into the pushing leg.
  2. Explosive Leg Drive: Drive forcefully off the near leg, extending the hip, knee, and ankle upward and outward toward the ball’s flight path.
  3. Flight & Hand Extension: Extend both hands together along the ball’s line of flight, locking the contour shape before impact.
  4. Sequential Absorption: Land sequentially across the outer leg, hip, and side of the torso. Never land flat on the stomach or directly on elbows and knees.

Common Corrections

Targeted Fixes: Correct common airborne breakdowns immediately to protect player joints.

Jumping Upward Instead of Outward: Jumping straight up limits lateral reach. Enforce pushing through the line of the ball.

Landing Flat on Stomach: Slapping the ground flat causes breath-taking impacts. Ensure a rolling side-landing across the hip and thigh.
