Ready & Set Position

The foundational stance taken right before an opponent strikes the ball, allowing explosive reaction in any direction. The pre-shot stance prepares the body to jump, dive, or move laterally with maximum efficiency.

  1. Base Width: Set feet slightly wider than shoulder-width, keeping weight balanced and active on the balls of the feet embedded in the turf.
  2. Posture: Flex the knees softly and lean the chest slightly forward over the toes to keep the center of gravity low and dynamic.
  3. Hand Placement: Position hands at mid-chest height with palms facing forward, thumbs up, and elbows tucked comfortably near the ribs.
  4. Head & Focus: Keep the head level and quiet, locking eyes entirely on the ball through the striker’s approach.

Common Corrections

Targeted Fixes: Correct fundamental stance breakdowns immediately to prevent slow reaction times.

Flat Feet / Back on Heels: Fix delayed reactions by requiring light bouncing or a split-step on the strike.

Hands Behind Hips: Correct slow high/low handling by forcing hands forward into the ready visual window.
