Low / Collapse Dives

A controlled lateral drop save used to reach low ground shots without leaving the turf in an airborne jump. Mastering the collapse dive is essential for efficient shot-stopping while protecting developing joints from hard impacts.

  1. Step & Set: Step diagonally toward the ball line with the near foot to establish direction and momentum.
  2. Collapse: Collapse the near knee and hip downward to drop the lower body quickly to turf level.
  3. Lead with Hands: Lead with both hands behind the trajectory of the ball, securing it with a firm contour shape.
  4. Absorption Landing: Land sequentially on the outer thigh, hip, and upper torso. Never land directly on elbows or knees.

Common Corrections

Targeted Fixes: Correct fundamental breakdown habits immediately.

Jumping Sideways: Launching upward off both feet creates hard, unsafe landings. Enforce dropping downward.

Landing on Elbows/Knees: Protect joints by ensuring the outer thigh and hip absorb the primary contact force.
